Crochet Beanies for Babies

crochet baby beanies

Two beanies for two separate baptisms. Before starting, I knew tight-fitting beanies would be harder than slouchie hats, so I went ahead and searched for all kinds charts and measurements. The most helpful charts by age are based on the final hat/head circumference and the diameter of the circle (right before we stop increasing stitches). I tried to follow but still ended up using trial and error, keeping my fingers crossed that they would fit the babies.

Below are gifts for my cousin who just turned 18! :)

The Hunger Games

Josh Hutcherson is the reason I watched the movie. I have been a fan since Bridge to Terabithia. His character, Peeta, is the reason I read the books, which I finished Monday.

Great read! These are the things I liked about the trilogy, aside from Peeta, of course: the plot, length of the trilogy, strength & variety of characters, and how 'real' it felt.

Though I think it's wrong to compare it to Twilight, I can't help it. This is my gauge, THG was a lot less annoying. The point of view bothers me sometimes, especially during Katniss' confused and whiny states. I would really love to read it again, this time in the third person, and see if it makes an improvement.

Gale was someone I didn't really warm up to. For me, he's character was replaceable, though not insignificant. I also wonder what directions the story would take had Gale been removed entirely. Because surely, he had been there to complete the triangle.

I can't wait for the next movie. Sam Claflin (Finnick) and Jena Malone (Johanna) will be there!

Updates

Multiply announced its closing last April. We were given until May 6 to backup all our files and posts, I think. But that time I had too much to do and put it off, until I checked May 7 and it was all gone. Too bad, I wonder what things were posted in that account. I will never know :(

cagayan de oro

May 2: Went to Cagayan de Oro with my brother. It was my first time travelling beyond the Calinan area and I was excited to finally see Bukidnon and CDO. Unfortunately, I had very high expectations and went home disappointed. Passing by Bukidnon and seeing a prevalent kaingin practice and the 'chocolate mountains' near Cagayan made me appreciate more what Davao's invisible heroes do everyday to keep the city clean. But we can do better.

Buda, on the other hand, is another thing. Because we took the air-conditioned bus going there, it didn't have much impact on me. So I suggested we ride the open bus going back, the closed bus experience is dizzying anyway. And that was enough. I want to go back there. Buda is wonderful to behold even in the afternoon, and the low temperature makes it even better. I was like "the Shire!" or "Rivendell!" the whole time. :)

Pasalubong from my boss and friend, Jeruel, a Tampa Wedding Photographer. Thank you! Now all I need to do is find out how to use these tools hehe.
